Question 1

Do I need a wallet to try it?

Accepted Answer

No. Cheap, pure-compute tools accept a small sha256 proof-of-work instead of payment. Your browser solves it in about a second.

Question 2

Do I need an account?

Accepted Answer

Agents never do. An optional account gives humans one place for API keys, card-bought credits and exportable receipts.

Question 3

What happens if a paid call fails?

Accepted Answer

You don't pay. Card charges refund automatically, credits are never debited, and x402 settlements are cancelled before they land.

Question 4

Is Chessory open source?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The server is AGPL-3.0; the SDK, MCP connector and tollbooth are MIT.
